The Quay Wren

We were delighted to welcome the quay wren to the pub for a practice before the annual St. Stephen’s Day Wren celebrations!

The day, called Lá an Dreoilín (the day of the wren) was once practiced throughout Ireland. Groups of disguised musicians and dancers go from door to door, or from pub to pub, collecting money or offerings of food.

There are four main Wren Groups in Dingle; The Quays, Green and Gold, Sráid Eoin and Goat Street.
